You Weren't Even There

You Weren't Even There

A Story by Tasha

Twelve long years have passed,
through its ups and downs I've made it,
and you weren't even there

You weren't there to see
your one and only child
walk across the stage
to get their diploma

You weren't there when I went
on my first date,
or when I got my heart broken...

You weren't there to comfort me
when I needed it the most,
and you weren't there to give me hope
when my world started to crash down

You weren't there to see the proudest
moment in your child's life
I'm grown up now,
its far  too late for you to try to be there for me now,
because you were never there...

Author's Note

 Tasha
I have a lot of friends who graduated this year, and a lot of their fathers didn't show up to their graduation and it struck at me to write this because in 2 years, I'll be in their shoes. Thanks for your reviews.

This is a harsh reality that's out there.. and it breaks my heart.. I just want you to know that nothing can take that sense of loss from you..but remember the ones that were there for you and how much they love you.. and all your friends here are so proud of you and all of your accomplishments...xx

I like how you put yourself in another's shoes and write what you feel they're experiencing. Good write on a sad subject.

Sad to know father's that aren't there for their children. Sometimes though we must also blame the parent who is there, because they won't allow them visitation, and our court system is one-sided in many respects. We shouldn't always consider that the absent parent isn't there because he/she chose not to be, perhaps the absent parent isn't there because they're not allowed to be.

We don't always know the circumstances behind the absent parent, until it's too late.

This is very sad and it breaks my heart as well. You are so strong for handling this issue for so long. Excellent thought provoking write.

Its heartbreaking truth. Every child should grow up with a parent-figure to support them. Sadly, I know many of them as well that their fathers dont even know they exist. Great write.

Awww. this just hit me in the heart. So sad. And i know some people who had that situation during graduation. But friends who are there for you make things a whole lot better!! They'll show how much they care just by their support and love. ^^ Love this though. Great write. The emotions flow out of this and we, readers, can feel it.
