Stereotype

Stereotype

A Poem by Tasha
"

This is a sad story.

"
Gunned down because of a color,
Gunned down for
Looking the part of
A potential threat
Unarmed, but still
The security guard shot

A hood on his head,
Skittles in his pocket
Talking on the phone

When will we realize
That we are all
Not the same,
We are all individuals

An eye for an eye
Makes the whole
World blind,

Its a shame
That a senseless killing
Was all because of a stereotype...

TRayvon is one of many lost because of hate and forgotten. We lose a thousand young people yearly to drugs and bad actions in Detroit. Kids with no education and no jobs have few choices. Hate crimes should get the max time and punishment. This is a very sad story. Need to be kept alive his memory so we won't forget him. We need to pray for the family and hope this law system will do its job. A powerful poem.

TaSha,

Good to "see" you again. for the poem - you speak well and good rhythm and clarity. As a comment, frightened peeps do stupid things... and BOTH were frightened... and both have to bristle and man-up because that's who their culture says they are and then it just grows until life happens. A high school senior type teen used to the streets he walked and a hispanic that wasn't off his own streets not all that long ago... yeah, life happens.
