Like Yesterday

Like Yesterday

A Poem by Lucas Grasha

Like the voices of tomorrow, I have come to pass,

this memory possesses me, but is not my last.

The ocean stands next to me, or I to her,

distinctions exists not, as I cannot find the words.

Like silence of yesteryear, I am still clear,

remaining in memory to never disappear.

The darkness cloaks me to reveal the day,

as I walk with them, in bliss and dismay.

Like hearts never happened, I find what’s lost,

in the warmth of her, I am frozen in frost.

She is beauty, the very definition,

her breath will take away every bit of tension.

Like everything I’ve known, I feel the pain,

but without scars, there is no reason to stay.

The death fades away along with the fear of it,

no longer the storm, but laughing bliss.

But like tomorrow, my will shall foil,

but then rise up from the earthen soil.

Then I stand at the ocean with my memories,

I smile, lie down, and let the water merge with me.

I feel like in it you're becoming yourself, learning you as the days pass.
