Pieces

Pieces

A Poem by Darian Justine

If you're gonna walk away
If you're gonna turn around
If you're gonna hurt me
Baby, do it now.

You tell me that you love me
And you tell me that you care
But lately I don't believe you
And that's getting hard to bear

You act like I'm invisible
You act like I don't exist
It's like I disappeared somehow
And I don't think I'm missed

It seems that everyone has opinions
And theirs seem to matter more
And keeping you, it feels
Is a never ending war

I can never tell what's going on
What I must have done
But I hope everyone is happy
Are you? You've won.

You got what you wanted all along
And I know you must feel glad
To know that for your happiness
You made another feel so bad

I hope you know how bad it hurt
That you deliberately turned from me
You listened to everybody else
And lost what we could be

So now, it's time to straighten out my heart
And iron out all of the creases
Smile, like I've always deserved to
And pick up all the pieces
