Love Scar

Love Scar

A Poem by Dark Tower
"

Love is a dangerous thing to have, and even worse to lose.

"

Love Scar

Love lost is like a terrible demon that haunts you

Taunts you

Until just hearing the word love causes you to perspire

So scared of being hurt that you hide your desire

Take your heart and wrap it in barbwire

But saying that makes you happy

Makes you a liar

You get so obsessed over those old painful emotions

That love of any kind seems like a ridiculous notion

You get so used to saying no to love

That your mouth doesn't have to think it’s such a familiar motion.

And at the end of a very long day

You march into your house and lock yourself away

Wondering why everybody else has somebody to love at home

But when you get you’re all alone.

Even surrounded by sea thousands you feel like you’re alone.

Until eventually you decide you’ve had enough

Threaten suicide if things don’t look up

Friends and family say they love you, but you call their bluff

So you buy a box of razors and swallow every blade

Life suddenly seems precious as you grab for air

Crying and pleading how you don't want to die you just want life to be fair

But its too late you die and leave pain ad heart break in your wake

Mother so sad she puts a gun to her head and says she’ll see you when you awake

Beautiful piece, I can relate to it. Very realistic and as someone who has been in similar situations I appreciate reading it and hope those with such thoughts will too.

I don't know. Love would never lead me to suicide. Maybe painful cancer or possibility of being torture. Love is hard part of our life. A wise person is kind and gentle with the people he loved. Better to leave open doors and friendship even in separation. A powerful poem that open the door to questions and thoughts. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

I didn't expect this to be tragic but I love the twist. You have a good literary technique that goes beyond the simple and evident intention of words or actions. And the poem is very realistic. No one could escape love's whip.

I do love it, B.C.(do you want to be called B.C.?) I have to stick to my earlier analogy of the rocky hill. And I love it that way. I can hear it being read, and the voice reaches for the next line, but always manages to grasp it...it is definitely not sing-songy, or billowingly romantic. Your word and structure choices convey the subject and emotion of the poem. I like how you illustrated the effects of loneliness, not only on the subject, but also on those who love him.

Haha...I imagine so. But people think they are being original!
"Even surrounded by sea thousands you feel like you’re alone." I feel this feeling to often, as I'm one who over compensates for my insecurities with a profuse amount of acquaintances. You can imagine how this write speaks to me.

Brilliantly written, my friend.

We all do.
I see your use of metaphore here again. love that, for all though you are talking of suicide, you are actually using this to describe the feelings of death of soul when a love is lost. I have felt this way, my heart breaking, razors cutting me like swords, passions with fire so great that it cannot be quinched.

Wow B.C., that's intense....a beautiful testament to the power (both destructive and constructive) of love. I love the visual of swallowing every blade. Nice work and thanks for sharing!
