Another Mugging

Another Mugging

A Poem by Dark Tower

Another Mugging.

Mommy where’s daddy I can’t see him!

Come on mommy, tell daddy to stop acting stupid

I’m poking his arm with my pen

But he still wont move it

Mommy

Why are there tears in your eyes?

Wait mommy?

Why is daddy not comforting you when he can see you’re crying?

Mommy why is daddys shirt so messy?

Looks he was eating a burger and spilt ketchup all over his shirt and tie.

Mommy why’s everyone whispering so I cant hear what they saying?

Mommy I just want to see daddy get out my way!

What do you mean somebody hurt daddy?

Who?

If it somebody he didn’t know, he’d have no reason to be mad would he?

If he wasn’t mad why did he hurt daddy?

For money?

But daddy was a nice man, if he just asked daddy would have given him plenty.

No! I don’t believe you, this is just a mean joke!

Daddy get up and tell mommy this is just hoax!

Mommy but why somebody take daddys life away from me and you?

Without daddy…

Mommy what are going to do?

A very sad poem. A child will never understand the lost of a parent. They will learn to accept the pain. You made the point clear in the poem. Thank you for sharing the powerful and sad poem.

:'( I would be completely lost without my own father. This poem is sweet, if heartbroken.

A child's confusion and grief. Little one daddy has gone to a better place.

Oh this made my heart drop inside my chest. The feelings that it brought up for me was haunting. Remember seeing my mother laying in that bed unconcious, and me making the decision to let her go on to heaven was the hardest thing that I ever did in my life. I would have rather died myself than to give her up. This poem is hauntingly beautiful and I'm glad you shared.

Wow this is really sad. The emotions behind this story are heart wrenching, and it is depressing when a child is put in a position such as this. Great job

I think this is more of a dramatic soliloquy which is actually impressive. It is a dramatic discourse in which the character talks to himself or herself or reveals his or her thoughts without addressing a listener. Another great write!
