THE FOREVER FRIEND

THE FOREVER FRIEND

A Poem by Darrieux
"

LOSING A PET

"

I lay stretched out (as all cats do) across your favorite chair,

You utter not a single word but I can feel your stare.

No, I don't have to turn to see the sadness in your eyes,

or feel the pain within your heart (where your emotions lie)

You sroke my old and faded coat with caring trembling hands,

You whisper all those human words, us cats can't understand.

You've cared for me for years on end and I've been there for you,

My spirit's growing weak my friend.....there's something you must do.

I know the times just days away, when we must say "goodby"

Prepare yourself and let me go  with no more than a sigh.....

Remember all the years we've spent and good times that we've had....

It takes "the greatest" love to make the "going" hurt so bad.

I have had the privilege of actually getting this poem from you when my pet died. It is framed with his picture. I cry every time I read it. It is so beautiful. Thank you for caring for our furry friends....
