Requiem

Requiem

A Poem by Scott Wolfskill
"

A poem I wrote on 2/11/15 with inspiration from a dark, bleak dream I had the night prior. I was dead, viewing my body in a barren, snowy landscape...

"

I stand beside her cold body,

My bones freezing in the snow.

My tears have turned to shattered glass,

She never again will I know.

You’ve left me here to die alone

And live through countless lonely nights.

Every moment a painful hour waiting

‘Till the day I also see the light.

The bitter cold reminds me

Of love and life lost too soon.

The darkness begins to overtake me

Only the chilling light of the moon.

The howling wind rips through me

As sorrow and regret flood my mind.

The snowfall slowly erases her bones

‘Till not a trace is left behind...
