to my motherA Poem by Davida poem I wrote for my mother as a birthday gift.To my dearest mother whom I love so much In my darkest moments you were my crutch For I knew that at any moment I could always rely On your unconditional love that gets me by. You gave me bountiful teachings with your example Putting others first even if it isn’t easy You taught me humility and how to forgive If it had not been for you my life would not be the same You cared for me even when I took you for granted And that was a life lesson that was forever planted In my mind and soul, and I am sorry for the way I was Not giving my all in times of hardship or cutting the grass I feel like I have failed you as a son in my first few years The times I turned away when I saw you in tears I just didn’t know what to do or what to say Cause I knew nothing would ever make it okay. I want you to know that I am searching for God And it is only because you put him in my path You showed me that not all Christians are fake You made me see that rejecting Him would be a mistake You gave me hope when I had almost none You made me smile when life was not all that fun I want nothing for you except eternal joy I want you to be proud in calling me your boy I am inspired by how you lived your entire life Staying with dad in every hardship and every strife Now he is taking you for granted as I once did too And I just hope I live to see how he grew Thank you mom for just being you I love you through and through I would ask for none other if I had a choice I want to express my appreciation with all my voice. © 2015 David |
