It's a term we have come to engage in reference to a perception of ourselves. At a fundamental scheme, it combines our perception of ourselves with the way the world perceives us. It is this today that responds to the changing world condition and struggles to find its footing again.

The issue is highly significant to our experiences as an individual and society. It impacts upon the family and the future of our children as we bring them up in the world. Some clarity on the matter would indeed be useful.

In the recent age of man, by the growing awareness of our minds, we have come to discern, in a matter of great sensitivity, our experience of virtue in the way we come to describe ourselves and our actions. Each time we do that we experience the persona of an observer who stands apart from the experience.

This stranger, has in many ways been a part of our experiences for sometime. We may have noticed him before as someone who doesn't involve himself in our activities, but stands apart in mute arrogance. Or we may have observed the individual as that which complains of the human situation as being totally convoluted and deplorable.

We may have even referred to him as that part of us who is the coward, in matters that required some boldness in response. Or that he didn't care enough to create some self sacrifices in personal or family relations.

In his responses, he seems to imply that we are constantly in a state of applying assurances to our ego and where we do not find it, we make one up ourselves. That we are incapable of standing on our own two feet without some infantile quality of playfulness, that serves as its own heart of approval.

In a relationship with women, this imposes an unspoken need that begs the appeal from another on account of a common understanding of need. In much the same way, it comes to influence people of the same gender in a relationship. In an adult relation with children, the issue is confounded beyond an easy resolution and the child needs to grow older, before they see the influence.

The source of these issues lies, as the stranger, as yet socially unfamiliar, on the slopes near the peak of mountains, and is indivisible according to gender. As an early life form resembling bacteria, fungi, algae or mushroom, it is not gender identified and constitutes a naturally existing union of the sexes. As that part to cool first in a planet that was still molten rock, it spawned a life perceiving experience of the peak in all subsequent experiences.

Indian cosmology identifies Mount Meru as being in the center of the universe in its manifestation. Scientific models that create the scheme of lowest to the highest, follows the observation of the evolution of bodily development. And science associates the scheme for mental development with  bodily evolution and conscious understanding of the mind of the personality.

In the competitive conditions that grew in the development of civilizations, which we inherit as our past, we came to ascribe to our group or individual experiences, that which served as a remarkable peak experience, each of us are uniquely identified with. This caused a powerful division in our experiences and in our cognitive engagement of the mind.

In lieu of a complete scientific opinion on the matter, human insight brings to us our latent experience of the mind, stored in itself, for the individual realization of the same matter. Its an experience of discovery that is quite strenuous and affirms the understanding as a matter of personal faith.

It tells the story of man as a matter of impulses. These intimated a pre-conception of our circle of creation before creation became manifest in matter. This appears to have carried itself into the human experience. However, in a social circle of relations, we created opportunities for the peak experiences of others, in a socially responsible pattern of behavior, that ensures the best formula for survival. No doubt this was undertaken by a process of natural selection and caused us to suppress our own.

The early experiences of a Nebuchadnezzar, who described himself as the son of god or a Xerxes, who called himself king of kings, are indicative of expressions of peak experiences. However, in the conduct of an orderly world, the consensus seems to have come to rest on the imperatives of verifiable knowledge, law and order, justice and the preservation of the rights of equal development.

The matter comes to be determined in the way a father may come to understand and tutor to his child's need for growth and development. This is a highly formative experience. Beyond the father's guide, the child comes to assess the accuracy of the father's perception and affirms or denies such an tuition. He is thereafter free to found his own way.

No matter what the conditions are of our upbringing, at the back of our minds, lies the ever present experience of peak and neutral gender experience. What we do with the discovery is entirely up to each of us.

The role of institutionalized religions in the world seek to guide us on the same issues, beyond the ability of the father to deal with all issues of gender with the child. They are a supporting institution we can't do without.

To an Indian growing up in the world today, the metaphysics of Sivan/Sakthi, as a report of human insight and addendum to his experience of the faith, provides answers to an inquiring mind. The personification of the Siva family, reportedly lives on the slopes of Mount Kailash, in the Himalayas, or some such peak of the mind's experience.

One paragraph refers to two personalities in history. The rest represents my thoughts on division and the gender issue. As anyone can see, there is no poetry!
