Rose Colored Glasses

Rose Colored Glasses

A Poem by DeliriousCerises
"

"Every day the future looks a little bit darker but the past, even the grimy parts of it, well it just keeps getting brighter all the time." ~Sally/Silk Spectre

"
Today I think back
To a happier time
Back to high school
So much potential
To change the world
A time of certainty
              Such a wondrous illusion
              Because back then I would
               Reminisce of a happier time
Back to junior high
Friendships were lifelines
As we scouted social seas
A time of change
                   But in those days
When my heart grew heavy I
                   Recalled a happier time
That of being a child
My world was everything
Everyday began a new forever
A time of make-believe

Without a day to regress to
As a child I used to wish
                       For a morning with Amnesia
Someday today
will be a happier time
A time of Confusion
A time of Growth

Today is a lost time and
A time to be remembered

Ah, how fitting that I should read your poem just after watching Midnight in Paris! The past appears somehow glorious even if we didn't value it while we lived it. But nostalgia doubles back on itself. Our past selves used to reminisce on their past, and so on, till the day we were born. I guess we should rather concentrate on the present than reminisce about the past. Great concept, well executed.
I'm not able to point out any "bad stuff" in this poem. Sorry about that!

I also like to be creative with structure and you have acheived this. The Hamburger poem, indicated that you are from the States but this confirms it ! Thanks
