When The World Stands Still

When The World Stands Still

Crimson; Indigo
Lo! Burning skies; falling stars
She dances; dances

The eyes of a child
Innocence" a smear of time.
Welcome! Lunacy.

The bells of war sound
Oh, sweet liberty at last!
Fool! They ring hollow.

What difference pray tell?
Veil or not. Seen or covered.
Crafty" Mass Effect.

Black Tar; Bind Feathers.
You tread upon them; for what?
Who is the terror?

Blinded; yet we see.
Hypocrites at play" laughter.
A step to the end.

Hush; the world is still.
Hush; voices whisper to me.
Hush; and lull me" Sleep.

Like Rome; crumbling.
Games to distract; wars to plague.
This graveyard is home.

Ashes and Ashes.
Ha! Circle me; circle you
Blow? We all fall down.

Author's Note

Summer D.
My friend had used an instrumental from an already copyrighted song but she created her own lyrics to go with it- For a school project nonetheless. Well, I liked the song so I decided to do a short poem/haiku for her and her song.

Of course I'm human.. -scoffs-

Well... I guess I was talking about what's going on today. I used some of her phrasing from her wonderful song... Apparently based on the book " The Things They Carried."

Each haiku is an allusion to matters that plague/concern us today~
Oil, "terrorism", government, Islam, money, loss of our values, the middle east, the media, etc.

My favorite line was probably "Crafty– Mass Effect."

P.S: That's not "lol"

I love the title. When the world stands still...Hmm... I think I'll use that line on the door of my room, except I'll change it to "where" the world stands still.

Alrighty. Back to the poem
I got the Ring-Around-the-Rosies effect too.
I like this poem, it's like a warning to me. In some random way.

For the strangest reasons this reminded me of the ending of NG Life, and the last stanza reminded me of Ring-a-Ring-a-Rosies. The poem in its entirety though, showed me a woman dancing among the blazing ruins of her home as soldiers march through it.

But I can see how the terrorism and government and the other matters allude to each haiku. An eye-opening write.
