Knight's Battle with a Dragon

Knight's Battle with a Dragon

A Poem by Mr Dennis Paquin

I stand before the mighty dragon
As he breathes forth fire and fumes.
With nothing more than shield and lance,
I face my impending doom.

As I look at him above my shield
And see the glint in his eye,
I knew that this would be the day,
One of us would die.

Astride my stead I lower my lance,
Pushing the fear from my mind.
As I rush right forward, I look at him,
For his heart I wish to find.

But he spins about and with his tail,
Knocks me from my mount.
Quickly I rise and draw my sword.
I’ll give him a fair account!

With my sword in hand I look up at him
As he gives out a mighty roar.
The sound and smell of this mighty beast
Sends chills to my very core.

My mind fills with terrible visions
Of a body lying broken and torn
Yet as I raise my shield to block the flames,
I smile, for this is why I was born

With teeth like daggers, he lowers his head,
He wishes to give me a bite
But I rush right under those hovering jaws
And give him a mighty swipe.

With leathery wings and bellowing roar,
He lifts himself from the ground
As he passses over my head, I raise my sword and yell,
“TO THE DEVIL I'LL MAKE YOU BOUND!!"!”

Knights with valor have fought for our freedom
Throughout the dark ages of man
Their fighting today and they'll fight tomorrow
To protect their friends and land.
