It is a cryptic piece indeed. One can really take this in many directions. It can be applied to many situations. At the moment I am inclined to take it at a more literal level and take in the images. I think the images have a haiku sort of purity to them where they can be observed for what they are, then processed for what they mean overall.

Many things happen under the cover of darkness that very few people, besides the ones involved, know about. Most people say they love nature, that it is all pretty flowers and cuddly animals, but it isn't. Wonderful poem in very few words. :)
