Abstract Lives

Abstract Lives

A Poem by Moonflower

We were born

Crawling out of the

Illusions

I never knew

You

were Here.

Waiting for

my arrival

Time

is just an

acquiescent

Flooding over,

Pulling Tides

The Moon rose

High

over roof tops

Houses all

in a row

What if we didn't

...exist?

My Love,

My confidant.

There isn't any

explanation

For this.

Spare, eloquent, haunting. Spelling: "acquiescent."

What strikes this reader is the contrast between "Abstract Lives" and the delicate soulfulness of the poem, underlining the strangeness of existence, that observation is not merely detached, but subtly feels.

Elegant and beautiful.

Time
is just an
acquiescent

Flooding over

that is such a mind-numbing image. it pulls at my imagination and makes my fingers itch to create... something. i don't know what. lol

but this, this whole piece is so filled with a melancholic glow, forlorn and yet still warm. i love it, beginning to end, top to bottom.. every syllable.

nice rhythm.

like pax, i'm pointing out 'acquiescent', not for spelling obviously, but for usage.

it's an adjective so doesn't work as written: "Time is just an acquiescent"

it should be: "time is just an acquiescence" [using the noun form]

or: "time is just acquiescent" [removing 'an' to make it an adjective.]

or: "time is acquiescent" [sometimes less is more.] ;)

A sweet poem. The point of view gives it space as does the format. Well done.

This had a gentle flow to the wording, like waves lapping gently at the shore. Much like a dream you don't want to end... that's the feeling you describe here. If it isn't real, then reality isn't needed...

A mind bender of a poem... a very interesting take on the whole fate and destiny concept.
