We Will Never Be Buried

We Will Never Be Buried

A Poem by Moonflower

I didn’t listen to the birds cry, I didn’t listen to the branches sway

All that I could see was surrounded

By glass

My hands were like marble, encased

With granite slabs

What was it that you said the angels

Sang

On each glorious day of the beginning

With their hearts held high, bleeding

Out their goodness

I might have wished for many things

If I had known that time would fly

Away

I might have said those words,

at last

If I had had some time to pray

I saw a rainbow bowing over

Restless fields of stony grey

And I sighed for his reflection

For all his colors seemed to fade

Once a moment came upon me

In which my fears rose to the surface

And laying before my eyes

Was my very own naked carcass

But not of flesh and not of bone

This dark creature that lied still

I saw that her blue eyes were open

But she did not breathe, nor had a will

And maybe then I might be frightened

If all my insides were turned out

Where I could never hide my face

Where I could not give others doubt

There was a table there before me

A black candle made of clay

And when I lit the wick it burned down

And the blackness melted away

I watched the flame rise higher and higher

As the ink bled down like pain

As the candle that was burning became

Pure and white again

And that woman told me softly

With a thin veil over her face

That everyone is dieing

That we’ve made too many mistakes

Her lovely tone did not quaver

As she spoke these words of doom

We are forsaken by our savior

The end will be upon us soon

And once it is a folly

And twice it is a must

So now we must remember

         Ashes to Ashes

          Dust to Dust

wow, the beauty is absolutely woven into your words,
it feels as if the reader comes softly into trance and invokes the spirit
the poem to gently sweep over the heart, is how your
words themself made me feel, this is magical :)
