Fear

This is a poem about my fear, and the faith that I have struggled with in making decisions.

I am afraid.

I am afraid of the essence of life

Of jumping headlong into fights

Of standing up for my basic rights

I am afraid.

 

I am afraid of the shifting tides

Of the voices in my head trying to hide

Of the life that I could be living

If I wasn’t afraid.

 

If I wasn’t afraid

I wouldn’t be careful and stay safe

 

If I wasn’t afraid

I’d take risks and break walls down

And speak truth among other things.

 

If I wasn’t afraid

I’d take up my sword and shield and fight.

If I wasn’t afraid.

 

If I wasn’t afraid

I’d lack empathy.

If I wasn’t afraid

I’d be a lifeless shell

If I wasn’t afraid

I couldn’t love.

If I wasn’t afraid.

 

I am afraid but that shouldn’t stop me

There’s the God of angel armies above me.

If David could be afraid and march with his armies.

Then I can be brave and fight for the broken hearted.

I am afraid but that can’t stop me

There’s the God of angel armies above me

If Moses could be afraid and stand up to pharaoh

Then I can be bold and speak out about Jesus

I am afraid but that can’t stop me

There’s the God of angel armies above me.

If Hosea could love someone who was so broken

Then I can love those who leave me.

I am afraid but that can’t stop me.

Wondering after reading this if you know a song the god of angel armies, amazing song by the way. This poem got me singing that song in my head.

This poem was very good filled with emotion, depth and meaning, pretty moving piece you have hear.
