Can You

Can You

A Poem by Dhemila

Who will be surprised to say that

Everything has not gone quite as planned

The pen between my lips has broken

And it spilled across my hand

Where's the love, where's the fight in you

Don't give up now

Where the f**k have gone your dreams

I can keep the silent strumming going

And we'll keep the wedge between our knees

And still you know I'm not forgiving

Can I hope that this will no day end

I can hold a grudge with a sinful reeling

Now step light; the dam is thin

Can you feel me?

Can you hear me now?

Am i breathing?

Have i knocked you out?

Can you feel me?

Can you stare me down?

Can you cope now we hit the ground [with hitting the ground]

No one or two or three or four

Alive are quite as quaint as us

Let there be there no bribe to bring me back on to your side

No deal or bust

I'd rather put the gun in my own mouth

Am I too angry for this cigarette song I jot down

I think of all the times

I've watched the ink describe my whys

And caught myself before i let the letters fall

In equal lines

And i try

And i try

I just don't know how

Can you feel me

All at once we swat the flies, taste the wines

and drink the puddles dry

Follow bacchus to the sky and just assume that we will never die

You can dot my X and cross your Y

I'll build the nest you make the pie

I won't feel any lighter knowing that you "know" me eye to eye

And I try

And I try

I just don't know how
