Romanticize

Romanticize

A Poem by Diella Notsu Eret

"You romanticize me like a dual suicide

We are not star-crossed lovers

I am not a deep intermission

I am not a porcelain figurine

I am a human being."

Her words pierced through my baby flesh like freshly sharpened daggers

Lacerating the surface

And I fell to the chilly exterior

And the sky came crashing down around me

The glass hung in suspension

The waves of blurred nausea consumed me

And I felt like a newborn

Gasping for air

And sobbing for loss of the warmth

Emanated by the confines of my bondage

And I reminded myself

She was a death dark raven

Pecking my eyes away

as I lay in submission
