The Aged Man

The Aged Man

A Poem by Digvijay Singh

An old wallet,

Enough old to know

how important it is.

No bills inside,

Just the same smiling picture,

and the aged man kisses her.

One more time.

So real.

Stuffs it back in his deepest pocket.

Is that a tear drop? Maybe.

Is that a promise of love? We don't know.

One breath pull,

And the aged man walks forward.

Again I find your words catch me and carry me into a moment.
You are as much a painter as a poet.

Thank You

I love how this paints a very clear picture in so few stanzas. You've given the subject a history through such a simple object. Really well done!

simple but very effective, it made me stop and envisage the scene ... so sad and yet full of love :)
