Father

Father

A Poem by D. Nelson
"

just what my mind told me to write. there is certainly inspiration though

"
Foot steps drumming down the hall,
corrupted fingers drag along the wall.
His presence speaks the death of it all.
How far is he now,
she counts his footsteps to guess.
Ten feet,
maybe a little less.
Is he coming for her?
How long will he stay?
All is told in the end of the day.
The moon watches.
A back is turned by the mother,
as her daughter continues to die within,
and never ceases to suffer.
Her self inflicted scars on the inside of her thighs,
and the bruises on her neck she explains with her lies.

These things all tell her story.
When will it end?

Why cant I die?
She wonders to herself.
Because my dear,
that would only be fair.
And this world is cruel.

This is not a poem to be taken lightly, nor mildly reviewed in passing.
You have brought into the open, which still seems to be brushed under
the rugs of many, a huge tragedy that never seems to find its ending.
As horrifying and tragic as that is. So, how does it
end? When does it end? And when does the backturning cease?!
I can't go any further into this ..... too intense for a review.

Very emotional and painful piece Dillon. Written very well, the
suffering depicted perfectly ..... great job!

a very powerful and painful read for me.. I can imagine how many women have memories like this one and I think it's an abuse that goes untold too many times. It was extremely well written. thank you for sharing.
