Santa isn't coming my dearie

Santa isn't coming my dearie

A Poem by D. Nelson
"

This one is based on a dark story that my uncle told me when I was 8 about a dark figure that posed as Santa Claus to gain access to homes and basically torture the residents... lovely thing to tell and 8 year old. lol.

Midnight...

… And a clamor of heavy hooves on the roof.

A thought passed through a child's mind,

relishing excitement and bliss as Santa has arrived on time.

Clinging to his sheets he shivers and wonders of the gifts that await.

A man steps from his velvet clad seat and out onto the snow piled roof,

a permanent grin set into his face but not visible in the dark hour.

He runs a hand across the back of one of his creatures,

the moon catches his face and his smile...

set into his face not of emotion but force.

Ripped ear to ear a gash, stitched shut and ripped again.

A gnarled scar across the length of a pain ridden face.

From behind his bone and velvet clad seat,

This man... no this monster... retrieves a sack.

It rattles and crackles and echoes the sound of metal against metal.

The beast swipes several crawling maggots from his face.

As he enters the house he passes the boys room.

A thrill rushes through the child's body and he cannot remain silent.

“Santa! Santa!”

He shrieks at the top of his lungs whilst kicking his feet.

The boy witnesses the silhouette stop in his doorway.

With a heavy hand it dropped it's sack.

A loud smash of iron and wood rung around the house,

just as this monster reared its neck in the direction of the boy.

Two dark abysmal holes churn where eyes should sit,

and pus oozes from where his mouth has been cut.

Santa is not coming tonight.

Yes it is a bit late for Christmas but it would have been a bit grim to post on the actual day don't you think?
