Hollowood

Hollowood

A Poem by dramamine

This whispering void, slowly destroying, always toying.

All I am is beginning to disintegrate, pulling apart and awakening my heart.

This world consumed by the plastic and pointless, bleeding needles to inject the laughter.

The faceless scatter, the nameless gather, and the smiles are plastered.

Flashing lights and corporation overwrite, I am sewed in tight.

There’s nothing I can say, sinking farther into the depths of today.

Molded mannequins selling their reflection, voices softly thrown away.

Perfection pills flow through the Hollywood hills, I can never be what they want to see.

Blurring bodies, blinded by the parties, palm trees conceal the unspoken reality.

A narcissistic mentality, I am no longer free.

Rape me. Hate me. Save me.

You have captured "Hollowood" perfectly, Twiggy... so many people fall victim to the stereotypes created by media and inject themselves with silicone and botox so they can 'fit-in'...diets, cleanses and extreme work-out regimes just to look good at parties where the real monsters lie in waiting to take advantage of celebrities in waiting... and Hollywood has spilled beyond its California confines, entering the world more quickly now in this age of selfies, instagram, snapchat, FB, Twitter, and the whole gamut of Online sites dedicated to pushing our youth to become part of the plastic society you refer to...and yes, Hollywood dreams will rape what is good, create hatred in tabloids and then push you into rehab where you can be saved and post another selfie on your way out... this is spot on writing, as usual...love the title and what you have to say!

An incredible poem with a pill that made me read it twice before grasping it message. At some point, life can just be like that.

Looking for fulfilment on the outside eventually leads to pain … perhaps the shinier that outside is the sharper the cuts. You can write.
