She say...he say

She say...he say

A Poem by Water Blakmon
"

A poem about "the other friend"

"

She says...

He's just a friend.

Even if he is just a friend,

Am I enough of another thing

That gets his due respect from her...

& who is she...

A lover

A friend

A future wife

A future knife?

Iron sharpens iron

Day breaks upon night

Wrestling till one prevails

Continually one anticipates the other

Making time for the opposite nature

Neutral adaptor of heavens wars I am

Relate to the things done under the sun

Nothing new and all...

Lies & manipulation

Persuasion & calculation

Truth & joy,

Assortments & arrangements

Maybe ridicule and pain again?

Maybe ritual and sane again?

I'll mutually make amends to drive you away

Before I'm stained again

This was NICE.

"She says...
He's just a friend."

Once again, hooking readers at the beginning. Those two lines cause the "dear God, we've all been down this road" groan.

This is simply what we call "flow." Check out that rhythm! It hooked me back in and had me waiting for more so...where's more? ;)
