Do Me A Favor

Do Me A Favor

A Poem by Meaghan M

Do me a favor.

Take my hand, and close your eyes.

Come with me, come in here with me.

Oh come on, I won’t bite.

There we go, now close them tight.

No peeking.

Outstretch your other hand.

Do this for me, please?

Touch something, anything.

I won’t let you fall, stop whining.

There, you got something?

Now just feel it, but don’t look!

Just feel it for a moment.

Ready? We’re going to move on now.

This may be strange, but go with me.

Take a big whiff of the air.

What does it smell like?

I told you, eyes closed.

What does it smell like?

Don’t tell me, just think about it.

Let it seep in for a minute.

Got it? Okay, ready for the next one?

Now, hush.

Don’t say a word.

Just listen.

What does it sound like?

What do you hear?

Keep those eyes closed.

Take in the sounds for a moment.

Do you have it now?

The touch; the smell; the sound.

Good, now open your eyes.

Is this what you expected?
