Story of Richard Corey

Story of Richard Corey

A Poem by Andreas v.
"

I did this for an english assignment, but I really liked how it turned out.

"

Another day, another dreadful day
filled with despair, chaos and depression;
Though these things are a challenge to find here,
that does not erase them;
These people do not understand this

Another day, I must put on a face
covering the torment behind it;
With fancy attire and a prestigious status
to further solidify the wall of deception
and keep society's "order" intact

Another day, and these people continue to live
with frivolity and joy with each step;
How I envy the children and their naivety,
Yet pity them for it as well;
For the curtain shielding this grotesque world
cannot be suppressed

Another day, and the world adds another pile
of unbearable standards and hideous fakeness on me;
These people know nothing of difficulties and hardships;
Each story they bore me with disgusts me
more than the last

I will disrupt society and its views on the rich
with a single bullet

Maybe then they will open their eyes to reality

Wow, I really loved it. The third stanza and the last line are my favorite parts.

This is very true. The repetition helps, too.
