Motivation

A Poem by Dominique Lambright
"

Explaining why you should never let your motivation leave you

"

Motivation

The motivation you have

Is confrontation towards your goal

To the thing that makes you get up every morning

It’s caution to failure

Yet acclamation to the idea

Faith in taking your life into your own hands

When faced with decision making

Try to find the action taking

Aspect of the film making

You are in the process of bespeaking

The talent you possess

Can become the connection process

To lead you toward successfulness

Sometimes there’s doubt in thinking it’s not everything it’s said to be

But when feeling like giving in

That spark flickers again

Giving you the power within

To start a new going in

At that final moment

Satisfaction becomes a movement

A flaming development

Found at last the missing fragment

As you continue to move through life

You learn what you can do

Will help someone else see the value in strife

And as they learn, you build character too

When it comes to the end

You realize that motivation was the one to defend

The dream that came to be

And even if things went bad, the dream was there to mend

Never give in to doubt
Find out what your dream is all about

This was quite lovely, what with your direct challenge to the reader to quite literally be "all that [he] can be." Your irregular rhyme scheme prevents your counsel from sounding "preachy", and evokes to my mind the image of chin-slightly-lowered gentle smile, of the sort that might be extended one by, perhaps, a loving (and not many years older) Aunt, or a teacher who sees the potential you clearly are NOT developing.

The rhyme scheme reminded me of two I have posted here, one, when challenged to write something about which I knew nothing al all...so I wrote a hip-hop tune (Uh HUH, did TOO!), and another time, challenged to write in a bygone era...Since MOST of my poetry resembles that of a bygone era (!), I selected the 50's and wrote one in the fashion of the Beat poets, with their irregular but recurring rhymes. I would welcome your opinion of "What Texas DON'T Lack", and "Dig THIS!" I also have two humorous Blues tunes (if such can be said to exist) but I'll not overburden you all at once!

Like the title, it's motivational. Motivation and hope may be frail but they move us on all the time. This a good piece bound to get the reader to take that bold step and move ahead.
