I wish I could feel so numb

To all these emotions running wild

I just want to hold my breathe

Hoping that time will stand still

Tired of putting on a front

Unfortunately I am good at it

Wanting to travel back in time

To prevent what is now

 

Breathe in…

Hold it…

 

You make me glow

Cover up couldn’t make it not show

 

Holding it…

 

The laughs we shared

The longing that was mutual

 

Holding it…

 

The trust we put in one another

The everlasting love, no one could take away

Paid no one else any attention

Found faith in the relationship

Moved in the right direction

Shared our success, dreams, and secrets

What happened?

I’m so lost, we had such a great connection

My glow has been hidden

It’s there, but too vulnerable

The laughs, not so many

The longing is one sided

You’ve convinced yourself that I’m actually thinking of someone else

Have you not experienced my faithfulness to you yet?

All these others getting your attention

They don’t even deserve it, you don’t see

Now I get the backlash when one of them irritates you

You come home with attitude and when they should’ve got it, I do instead

Now you ask what I am holding on to

I know you’re in there; I’d like to believe I know you best

I don’t know if anyone else sees the real you

And you have to find what makes you happy

I know when you’re in deep thought

When you don’t want anyone to notice, I see the expressions

You just have to find the right people to do so with; don’t just put faith in anyone

And unfortunately we are really coming to an end

I don’t know what I will do, but I do want to remain very close friends
