A Poem by Donna DeLong Matthews aka Gold Pen Ghost

Too Late

Oh once the hurtful words
Are released upon the heart
There is no pulling them back
No returning to the start

Be sure of what is said
Will not become tomorrow's regrets
While forgiveness can be granted
The heart never forgets

Be cautious... Be wise
In all that you say
Regrets will not be yours
At the end of each day

Words spoken in anger
Would best be unsaid
And down the path of no return
You will not be led

When the wrath of anger
Across your lips spill
The void left behind
You can never refill

You say I should practice
This that I preach
Well because of paths walked
This lesson I can teach

So when the heart
Is angered with hate
Just walk away
Before it's too late
