One Tin Soldier   The riches of this mountain the buried treasure is our Freedom We are hated so severely because we are a free kingdom We stand tall and proud because of who we are In the nation of nations we are a shining star An example we must be joining hand with every brother Taking the needed time to just simply help each other To take a blind eye to any injustice Not wanting to get involved lends no credence If your going to speak out on what is not right then you must  be willing to fight the good fight Protection is not a matter of yours and my convenience What our Military gives is not a mere pittance God Family and Country we must always defend Keep each other safe take each brothers hand Foe will dig to our very soul wanting to know our wisdom but when standing before them nude the great secret will be our Faith and Freedom Our Military risks the ultimate sacrifice and oh the price we all pay We watch a flagged draped coffin as another Tin Soldier  rides away ღ KKD ღ Original by Donna DeLong Matthews November 2010 View All My Poems   Audio Coven One Tin Soldier

OK so you went and made me actually sign up for this just so I could comment ! I do hope my recent email had a bit of the underlying inspiration for this one. It is simply great how well you incorporated the parts from the song and gave them the same twist I often envision ! As you well know this subject is one I am very enamored on and have personally written about many times. I cannot overstate how touching this is for me... in several ways yet I still find the reality of the subject both troubling and sad in the fact that there is the necessity of wars and loss of those willing to stand and let it be known how we fell of our freedoms. Before I ramble on nedlessly I will just say that I believe more should be posted on this and related subjects ! I stand in awe of your talent my friend as this is a truly awesome bit of writing ! Oh my sweet Cowboy
I love you and totally respect your opinion
but I have to disagree with you only partially....
SEPTEMBER 11 was/is our business...
Do I agree with our leaders past and present
not totally, Our government sends truck load after
truck load of aid to other countries while we have
so many hungry and homeless right here in our own
country. I am not against helping those in need but
I also believe charity begins at home. The sad part of
it all is what charity that is given at home about 75% of
it goes to those who are able but not willing to help
themselves.... Goodness I could probably talk a week
on the injustices of this country and the world, but sticking
to this write it was to honor our fallen precious protectors.
Darlin please know I so appreciate you and your comments
and I pray you never stop them. You always give me something
to think about.

[Coyote Poetry]

I try to remind people we have 250 thousand Soldiers still serving in dangerous places. Last week a Michigan Soldier was killed. He got page 13 in section A. I didn't hear anything about his death. I found it by mistake reading my daily paper. I pray for peace. I pray for all Soldiers brought home safe and sound. This is a powerful poem and photo. I have lost many good friends in this war. Every time a Soldier falls. Break my old heart. I know they left many with tears here at home. A excellent poem.
