Silence

Silence

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

The suicidal silence
Lingers, hovers over
The entire room.
Like a deafening bomb,
It has dropped and now
It remains
Hanging
Orb-like, above
The heads of every person.
The unbridled quiet
Refuses to be slain.
No words can be spoken
To kill the relentless pause
Within this room.

The silence
Never broken.
It clings to everyone
Like Death written
In the air.

"Like death written in the air"

A splendid line!!! Silence can be a tangible commodity, can it not? This is wonderful poetry. Lydia
