Track 1

Track 1

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

Run, run!
Faster, my darling!
The eerie, dark music
Is looming overhead,
A warning to our ears
That something is approaching.
Don’t you hear the frantic drumming
Pounding out a funeral cadence?
We cannot run that way,
The music is dimmer there,
Which always means
Hope is faded.
But– wait!
I heard a faint embellishment
That hinted at safety
Within its undulation.
Through here, through here!
Quickly!
Oh…
It looks like the music
Misled us, my dear.
Hold tight to me
As we die
And this music
Becomes filled with despair.
The notes will reach their climax
As our lives diminish.
Goodbye, my love.
If there is a dream
In the never-ending sleep,
I hope that you are in it.
Hear the music
As our breath fades, my sweetheart.
Beloved, how poetic the rhythm is,
How soft the notes,
As we lie here together,
Dead.

First of all, I thought you were referring to a child, then I realized it was your lover. Very clever how the analogy with love is the message yet how you only mention this word, once.

I like the perspective of how the music vicariously lives your every move and you cannot, no matter what, escape its intentions. Then how the notes, life, love have fooled you both, but it is too late, some more unrequited love.

Very clever! I like the intensity of this poem. I could really feel it throughout the poem. Very cool, poem.

yay! i love it! you actually wrote something w/ the music: it almost matches its rhythm. reminds me of sleepy hollow for some reason, w/ johnny depp. i don't quite know why...
