Incomprehensible

Incomprehensible

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

She did not need a knife
To inflict damage upon herself,
For he did it for her.
His words cut deeper
Than any metallic object
She wielded ever could;
His unmasked hatred
Tore at her soul,
Rendering her incapable of
Feeling any salvational emotion,
His quick-tongued insults
Lashed against her heart
With a poisonous, but
Never deadly blow,
His fiery malevolence
Turned all of her
Potentially resistive thoughts
Into ashes, more weak
Than a solitary, cracked
Leaf which is thrown
Into the sky by the
Torrential rains.
No, she did not need a knife
To feel any pain,
But she used it anyway
To escape from that torture
Which he placed upon her.
