My Escape

My Escape

A Poem by DrewBerry
"

Written about 'living in the box' of this computer. Here, we can choose what part of ourselves to reveal; creating an illusion of self-defination. Hiding behind the screen, but revealed by our words.

"

Friends abound in distant places.

Faces elude me, construed yet plainly seen through words of measure;

Taking pleasure in their contemplated realities.

Feeling free to share behind this screen of discontent.

Safety in the hidden places of time spent amongst the lonely friends.

Definition hidden in my future, unknown and unseen.

Exciting, frightful, tentative yet insightful.

Here I regain my release.

Let it suffice through the nighttime and through the rain.

Welcome heartache. Welcome pain.

Consume the heart and let it ache.

Nothing more that it cant take.

it's an interesting theme, an explored well. Drewberry like Ravenskald is a construct, a pen name projecting a portion of our "inner reality" changing the emphasis in places, adding partsand removing others.
"Exciting, frightful, tentative yet insightful.

is a beautiful line and sums a great deal of this up, here(as writers) we can be ourselves, or more accuratly our different selves, the one that's not trying to fit into the demands of the "world" we live in.
An excellent thoughtful & Insightful piece of work

Well said about it being our 'other selves'. You got the whole jist of the poem in that thought.
