A Race Aganist Time

A Race Aganist Time

A Poem by De'Andre

All that starts must come to an end

Knowing this truth we try to pretend

That there is no end, just a distance to travel

And all that it holds for us to unravel

A man or a women can see beyond all

But our vision is blocked because our arrogance is so tall

We don't take the time to want to believe

We only hold on to what we concieve

We don't realize our life is put on the spot

Not wanting change the pace of the clock

Moving too slow, letting everything pass on by

Leaving this world with nothing as we die

We have to take hold of all that is ours

Until we're above the height of the towers

So, put on your shoes and don't tie the laces

Take off like the wind and its various paces

See with your mind, think with your eyes

Search up your future but don't wait for replies

Distant or close, there is an upcoming end

You know the real truth so don't try to pretend

Grasp hold of the wind and don't let go

Unravel your future but don't take it slow

I loved this, it is very inspiring and interesting. I particularly liked the lines
"Distant or close, there is an upcoming end
You know the real truth so don't try to pretend"
and then
"Grasp hold of the wind and don't let go"
For me, these were extremely satisfying and thought-provoking. You almost had me out of my chair ready to do something for the moments I waste sitting at a computer screen!
Good job!!

I'm Native American/Mexican. We like to run with the wind if possible. My Grandmother was forced into white man school in her young days. She told us be afraid of nothing and run with the wind. Be free of walls and fences. The poem is outstanding. Today Kids have big trouble left by greedy men who destroy the land and air. The children of today must be wise and strong. Better then their parent. A excellent poem. Thank you. I like how you write.

I believe this to be the most truthful and spot on poem i have ever wrote. It has helped alot of its readers realize that they shouldn't take life for granted. I can't speak on everyone else's behalf but i'd like to believe that it will prove helpful to anyone that is lost or just not taking what life has to offer seriously.
