Mean in Meaning

Mean in Meaning

A Poem by Sweet & Tender Hooligan
"

This is two poems in one or two parts of the same poem. Two sides that both mean I love you. A negative and a positive or a dark and light, two sides to the same story.

"
I

Time within time, grey day for the snowfall, your heart in mine
Time is short, stuck like a stick stirring paint, transitorily till your mine

What am I to you? (It's my life too)

Crosses crossed on the damp pavement
Held out to dry like wet clothes
Colours of my dreams fading out
It shows us what should be
Eyes burn and so do dreams

What am I to you? (Am I alive too?)

My pain so deep (cast your memory back)
Your heart in mine,
As deep as the soul

Throw yourself to me
Be the first
Or be like the rest?
Who'd have sooner thrown
Themselves in front of a train?

What am I to you? (I am alive too)

Why do I give everything I have to you?

Why would you do the same for me?

What are you to me? (You were my life)

Why do I give pieces of my heart to you ......
.... you ask yourself

Then I wonder to myself am I to you......
.... what you are to me?

II

Time of our time like a stick stuck in a field in the snow,
Chancing forever to become stuck in the paint pot of the heart

You love me as I am (no way of knowing)

Crosses crossed on the damp pavement
Two hearts beating through a trumpet.
Listen to the colours intertwine dreams,
Into pretty for real daydreams,
Eyes burn in the rain and so do bad dreams

I love you as you are (knowing isn't showing)

Your heart in mine  (cast your memory back)
As deep as the soul,
In the wind and rain

Pick and pry a mutual interest,
Throw yourself to me threw me away.
Complicated distance
Shorter than company,
Longer than present company,
Unlike the rest who'd have sooner.
Thrown themselves in front of a train

You love me as I am (knowing isn't showing)

Why do I give everything I have to you?

Why would you do the same for me?

I love you as you are (no way of knowing)

Then I wonder to myself am I to you......
.... what you are to me?
