Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Breezie Kae

Writing just to occupy the time

and all the spaces in my mind.

Tired.

So tired,

and I just want to sleep.

But sleeping doesn’t sound fulfilling

and I can’t bring myself to it.

Maybe if you were holding me,

but you aren’t

and you won’t.

It’s so hollow, these broken promises

to myself, just wanted to kick off

my new lie, but I guess

I’ll just lay here and sleep.

Waste away and

sleep.

I don’t know how much more I can take.

The tired feeling of wanting to fall into slumber is very powerful, and you portray it masterfully in this poem, without any long winding sentences or overly complicating things.

Breezie, this renders me in the void and loneliness I felt after I no longer could talk to my boyfriend. I wanted to hold him, hear his voice, anything, but he instead gave me the cold shoulder. Sometimes sleep is all we have, :) --mishy
