Previous Version
This is a previous version of What Is Truth?.
What is truth,
but what we think is true?
Nothing can be proven
because contradiction rules our lives.
Like a Sophist,
I believe in no wrong or right.
But if there's no right,
how do I know my theory is true?
Are we wasting our time,
trying to find the world's secrets?
Are we searching too far?
Some things just should be left alone.
Life is a theory;
can it be proven that it isn't a dream?
And is there a reason for everything?
What is life
but our own thoughts and perceptions?
And am I rambling too much
for you?
What is death
but life again?
And is everything I'm saying untrue?
I hope I'm not confusing you.
But give it some thought,
don't put this away,
because if you do, like the wind,
it'll all be gone.
So give it some thought
before you say,
everything I say is untrue.
this is a magnificent piece, full of wonder and questions answered by riddles, i like that you question, it shows a higher level of understanding and you would never know unless you ask the questions that everyone else shuns. i think life for me, theorized, is a bunch of way stations that we must face our truths and demons to move on to the next, in the process we live our realities and it becomes truth within our hearts and minds. so what is life? well you hold the answer inside yourself! great read, keep writing no matter what
wow you certainly have a way with words i can tell you that. Hard to believe you are so young I guess all hope is not lost in the youth. Maybe they are not all sheep. You should check out my poem See Through Lies it kind of relates to this. Agreed people waste a lot time trying to unravel the worlds secrets but then again wandering minds have a lot of time to waste.
This was a phenominal poem, It definately forces the reader to think, exactly what i wanted in my competition. i would have to say one of my favorite parts was when you questioned life and the what it is (shown below). I also enjoyed how the simple the dialect of the poem was, so that it was open to interpretation to everyone, not just the select few that have high vocabulary skills. Brilliant job, the whole poem is well rounded and flows. Good luck!
Life is a theory (Really strong statement)
Can it be proven that it isn't a dream?
And is there a reason for everything?
What is life
But our own thoughts and perceptions?
This was really cool and unique. I love your theories, and I totally think the same thing. This was definately an excellent thought-provoking piece, and I tihnk it is great.
Awesome,
S.k.
And ah, how very thrilling it is to start pondering all those questions out loud and having your mom call you retarded.
Anyway, this is not the place for me to complain. You did a fantastic job here! I really relate to all of those questions. The flow is good, the rhyme is nice, the structure is ramble-y, which fits really well in it. I like that you don't try to sound like the smartest and most cultivated person in the world -- you just throw those doubts at the reader and let the reader consider them, instead of using the sort of big words that can make the average reader think that a poem is too difficult for him or her. Well done.
I mean seriously, that was deep, my mom came over and read it and shes like...wow...thats deep..thats really deep...i didnt know breezie could go that deep...
