Crooked On Phonics

Crooked On Phonics

A Poem by E.H. Monroe
"

Another head knocking a*s shocker from the Local Ugly Maniac.

"

I am a horrid drug addict

It begins with the tap tap of the street syringe that gives life to the off time beats of the music

Please don’t mind my ADHD ADD because I must have my XYZ’s confused

My diagnosis is hopeless

And the doctor has a prescription for imaginary ailments

while drugstore cowboys inhale that

Ex-pe-a-li-docious

I bump lines of blue curves and red margins

Imagining armies of green clovers, purple moons and blackened sins

Unlock mysterious miseries in the smoky trees of memory seeds

Puff

Puff

Give

fool, don’t f**k up my rotation

A touch of exhalation, shotgun Angel’s dust into the faces of this idea pregnant nation

I am an intellectual crack Pusher

More bags of creative tar than Spiders from Mars and the Cat Ziggy who played guitar

And heroin?

She’s All in

The female protagonist with more cures than acetaminophen

Stacks of metaphoric alcoholic nectar never runs dry

We are all drunk on the minds of a thousand lies of our inner eye

And the addiction grows in every time the rain dries and a relative dies

And the addiction grows in every time we swallow pills and magic paint spills

And the addiction grows when Meth labs blow causing blood flows to create stanzas of despression

And we create a session of lines of impeccable truth

And spines of books are written in the life lines and across sky lines of the youth

I say stay hooked on the Phonics

Addicted to dream tectonics

Detoxing is the pleasure of pen to paper verbonics

How do you know you have a drug problem? When the cop tells you to walk the wtite line you get down on your knees and try to snort it.
I love the poem.especialy the meth lab blowing.people don't realize how dangerous those meth labs can be.it is true that all that cool shat you love o read was mainly written on a whole lot of drugs.I am a mommy now,so I changed my ways but back in the day I could write all night and half way through the next day.keep up the good work .I think it's cool and I don't care how many drugs it took to write it

Sounds like another rap song? just wondering here, do you enjoy rap because it sounds like it would fit perfectly with some beat and that rap sound (whatever that is) lol.

great insiders look of the life of an addict- the mind works this way- and you add something else, a sort of intelligence that recognizes that there is an addiction and that (the speaker) craves something more. I love your female protagonist and the fact that acetaminophen fits so well in the rhythmic scheme of this poem. again, this is the kind of performance piece that could stun an audience.

also, thanks for your review. the weather in utah is pretty cold but i am mostly in california these days so i dont have to deal with that too much

So much brilliance about such a mind killing addiction... the poem itself was a rush but unlike drugs it is a positive stimulus.

Very dark. Love.

Favorite part:
"Puff

Whoo Hoo!! Now what does one say when something comes forth that opens the eyes of the reader and says BAM! Truth behold! You got it on square one and all I can do is read this again and again..

Sweaten bullets here. Loven it!

this stuff will jack you up, jack.
I went back for a second ride,
just when you're diggin' on the candy,
EH Monroe sucker punches you with the truth
Intellectual crack,

flows so nice, ya gotta repeat it for him twice:
"And the addiction grows in every time the rain dries and a relative dies

And the addiction grows in every time we swallow pills and magic paint spills

And the addiction grows when Meth labs blow causing blood flows to create stanzas of despression"

This was the proverbial gas, man.
I'm concerned about the "sky lines of the youth"
you're tapped in brother,
amen.
