RIP Dom

RIP Dom

A Poem by Lex Shamlin
"

A friend of mine ended up taking his life. I may not be close to people at school, but this explains what happened when we heard the news.....Love you Dom! #56

"
No more tears to cry.
No more broken heart.
He did what he wanted.
He did what he needed.
God covered him with a veil,
That he couldn’t find his way out of.
He is our brother.
He is our friend.
He is our family.
We live on for him.
No way will he be forgotten.
That will never happen.
He brought us all together.
As one.
One family.
One community.
We mourned his death.
We celebrated his life.
Who would ask for anything else.
He will live on in our hearts.
He will protect everyone of us.
I just wish that we could have protected you
from meeting this terrible fate.
But as long as you're happy,
that's all that I ask.
Remember number 56
You'll always be a part of us.

A very strong poem with a very sad tone. It was wonderfully wrritten and the word choice was great. It's not easy to forget someone so close to you when they die. I'm sure it is harder when their end is violent or self-incflicted.

The loss of someone to their own hand is never easy. Yet I think you've given the even the best spin and glow that one can. The piece keeps away from the tragedy and the negativity that associates with suicide and focuses on the positive and the memorable. A good ode' to one who has passed.
