Temple of Janus

Temple of Janus

A Poem by Edward Clay
"

Ovid was an ancient poet. The temple of Janus was closed during times of peace in the Roman Empire.

"

Cry with me at the altar of peace,
we can leave behind what was once said,
denying all truth of possibility.

These gates shall close; troubled times
leave a shrouded mist of deceit
with all honesty in a mask.

Ovid’s tale, a meadow of green
in his daydreamer song;
times change through windows.

Meet with me at the altar of peace
and we will walk hand in hand,
indifferent and accepting.

i really like how the poem is about an ancient poet but it also seems to be about modern life. it's timeless.
