Midnight In Norway

Midnight In Norway

A Poem by Edward Clay
"

This is a song lyric: the actual song can be heard here - http://www.myspace.com/moakemusic

"

 Late night driving on roads we forgot -
streetlights beam down like spaceships up above,
and on the outside of these windows in the night,
a solo road to nowhere, to somewhere right.

And there's more life in this beaten motor,
than its drivers eyes.

I turned off this lit road into the countryside;
passed lakes and forests of the places we kept inside
our dreams as we'd lay 'neath the dotted skies-
beneath the vapour that mists my thoughts tonight.

But there's more love in this broken vision,
than what's left in my sights.

Now I'm lost for answers and I'm at the end
of the chapter, so maybe I should turn another page,
but there are no words left to fill this empty space;
this distance will lose me on the road again someday.

And all the time I'm seeing different patterns,
blanketing the night.

I stood beneath the canvas in the biting winter air
and only saw reflections of the colours in your hair,
while all the lights are raining down upon this mess;
down in a catharsis upon some lost bliss.

And there's nothing left in the land of Norway,
that changes things tonight.

i listened to this - a lovely, mellow tune.

And there's nothing left in the land of Norway,
that changes things tonight.

i love this line.

I also listened to Where's Home - I really liked the wistful feel. Great melody.

Good stuff :)

OMG, this is spectacular! The structure, the development, the straight-out images and those of longing and yearning that are hidden beneath or peeking out of the words and between the lines -- it leaves me breathless and in awe. This is going into my Favorites, both so I can come back to it but also so I can listen to the music itself.

Wow ....
