Requiem for Love

Requiem for Love

A Poem by Declan
"

First poem on affection, so might not be up to standards. Also a hard topic for me to speak about but here it is anyways.

"
Your smile pierced me at first sight
Just painted on for the night
For your eyes held another tale
They longed for someone not to fail
A man to be there at your side
To which I promised I’d abide

We’d form a firm foundation
With each other’s validation
To build a house like no other
And with affection we’d smother
For your beauty shone in every way
And thus I wanted you to stay
We’d be happy in this home
Our life written in a tome

You are nothing less than perfect
We truly did connect
Now only I see this link
My actions changed how you think
You saw a tainted me
He was horrible I’ll agree
Deeming me worthless
Making this venture seem fruitless

But I see this house crumble
Hurting as I caused the tumble
No ones fault but my own
I have made you feel alone
I have failed you I know
And I’ve never felt this low
I will always cherish you
Whether you believe it’s true
I give all my love
I think the world of
You

It has good rhythm, you got your emotions across in a creative way. The rhyming was great.
