The Music

The Music

A Poem by EmaleighLynn
"

Wrote this while taking exams.

"

I can’t stand it anymore.

My brain hurts,

My mind screams for release,

I want to cry.

The music in my ears

Pounds a message of,

“You can make it,”

But the paper in front of me says otherwise.

I feel like a failure.

Everything in me cries,

“You’ll never make it,”

“Loser,”

“Stupid,”

“This is impossible,

How could you ever get through it?”

There’s only one way to shut them up,

My demons.

I blast the music,

Play it so loud it almost hurts,

And remember that

Even if he has never met me,

He believes in me.

Through the songs,

He calls,

“You can do anything,

Because you are the master

Of your life.”

So if I annoy you

With my loud, angry music,

You can shut up

And cry me a river,

The only thing I care about right now

Is me.

This poem is dedicated to My Chemical Romance. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten through my physics exam without their music.

Wow, this was loud, that's for sure. I liked the ending the most, but the overall poem is something many of us can relate to. Very cool.

Thank you very much! The ending is my favorite part too.
