chart a course

chart a course

A Poem by Emily B
"

too new

"

There is a map
somewhere
lined with faces
where the places
ought to be

There is a map
that rises up
sweetly singing
in morning sun
and my feet follow

Adventure beckons
with golden revelations
and I know
where I'm going
all along

Author's Note

probably foolish to gather inspiration from a horoscope: You have the map, so it's up to you to decide where to go next. Be as adventurous as you like. You may not have exact directions, but you know you want to chart a new course for all those who want to come along.

Great to glance through ragged old maps to find places where I wanna head..Life's course needs no maps, it takes us where it wants.Sometimes we wish we had one..It's certainly a nifty poem, agree with Libby..Quite the spoilsport for adventure, aint it ?

I love the depth behind these short words - the adventure blossoming - also perhaps enlightenment - wanderlust!! nice!

No, not at all foolish to gather inspiration from a horoscope .. inspiritation can come from anywhere and if it touches the mind and heart then, use it. Life's given to us to juggle with; our paths are laid in pretty straight lines, it's up to us to take the detours - even if we have to bear the consequences!

Just re-read this and realised that tho the wording's brief and simple, behind it all is terrific thought

This speaks to me of new beginnings. For me too, maps symbolise the promise of freedom and adventure, new hope and direction. The poem also hints at something otherworldly, spiritual, as it lifts towards heaven. This is so very beautifully written.

Emily - this is glorious. You constantly up the bar and those opening lines are just SO profound and real for people to grasp and understand. It's an imagery that is impossible to forget too. Huge round of applause from this side of the pond.

I like the certainty of the final lines. The map is really not out there, but inside you. Very nice, Miss Emily ...

I read my horoscope every day. Sometimes I don't believe it though. Sometimes it's right on the money too. This makes one think. I enjoyed this lovely piece.

There must have been some electricity in the air back when you could just up and go because whatever you leave behind was not holding you there like benefits, retirement, etc.
