chart a course

chart a course

A Poem by Emily B
"

too new

"

There is a map
somewhere
lined with faces
where the places
ought to be

There is a map
that rises up
sweetly singing
in morning sun
and my feet follow

Adventure beckons
with golden revelations
and I know
where I'm going
all along

Author's Note

Emily B
probably foolish to gather inspiration from a horoscope: You have the map, so it's up to you to decide where to go next. Be as adventurous as you like. You may not have exact directions, but you know you want to chart a new course for all those who want to come along.

Great to glance through ragged old maps to find places where I wanna head..Life's course needs no maps, it takes us where it wants.Sometimes we wish we had one..It's certainly a nifty poem, agree with Libby..Quite the spoilsport for adventure, aint it ?

and thus we see that it is not only philosophers or seekers or those who believe in creation and a metaphysical God who experience the world as 'one-designed' united whole.

I definitely love the title of this. It's very, me. I feel as though the length of this benefits the piece. Surprisingly, the structure of same sized stanza's benefits this as well. Usually it provides for a less than interesting, read. My only major complaint is the transition between the 2nd and 3rd stanza feels, almost, incomplete. I feel like it's a weird read between these two. Like the piece. I don't library many writings, even on my old user name. But, this, I'd like to share with others. Good work. I will be interested to read something in the future.

I absolutly love this! The last line is awesome! I know it's just two words, but with the meaning of the poem, i though it spot on! Great job!

ah, knowing where you're going...
we are going... it's the knowing that gets me
something very spiritually confident about this...

This is absolutely beautiful.. the sense of what lies ahead.. the adventure of all that awaits... The opening lines were mere perfection: "There is a map somewhere lined with faces where the places ought to be." That image of people... those dear to us... being our destination is simply profound. Loved this!

I like this poem for the hopeful tone and easy lyricism.

i dont think that's foolish at all. In fact, I think it's a great place from which to gather inspiration.
'my feet follow' -- what a great line. i love the idea of your body knowing where it should be before your mind does. excellent poem.

Lyrical and musically paced; I suspect you suspect it isn't finished, but whatever you may build from this, the foundation is unquestionably sound.

I love that feeling sometimes ... when your heart and soul is guiding you and the place you end up is beautiful and wonderful.

I love this piece.
