growing

growing

A Poem by Emily B

I still think

I’d rather be a weed

than any

fancy flower.

Let me grow

off kilter

from scattered seed

up through

cracked sidewalks,

drinking up

drops of hot rain

and soaking up

the cold sun.

And, when,

my bloom is brightest

pick me quick

and take me home.

A real rebel you are. I usually let the clover take over my back yard during the spring while every one else is trying to kill it. I like clover and certain wild things that grow in my yard. I didn't have to plant them, they just spring up all by themselves.

This made me smile. I think this was really brilliant use of metaphor. So enjoyed this gem...

There is also the resilience. No matter how often they pick you and try to take you down ... you just keep growing back.

only the wise have enough sense to take home a weed and watch that beautiful flower grow

I'd like to be a weed too rather than a fancy flower than your beauty would be praised only by those who really have eyes...A fancy flower can attract everyone but a weed would be adored only by those with dainty asthetics.

my smile reaches from lips to the eyes~ a delight~ there is beauty in everything~ few see that~ fewer could expres it as humanly~ as charmingly as you have done above~
