A Loss

A Loss

A Poem by Emily Wright

Curled up in a corner,

shaking from the fear,

mommy,

daddy,

please,

don't fight,

soon their voices lower,

but they still reach my ears,

ey eyes swell up,

from the oncoming tears,

a slam of the door ecos through the room,

the screech of tires floats through the empty streats,

mommy comes towards me,

together we spill our tears into the others shirts,

daddy just needs some time alone,

we sat waiting for him to walk in the door,

but we never swa him again,

for two men came the fateful night,

bringing a sad sad tale,

unforunetly it was real,

daddy did some drinking ,

then wehn he was driving home,

he lost control going off the road,

their story was coming to a close,

mommy was shaking with grief and tears,

this never would have happened,

if daddy didnt drink that night.
