198,000 Miles

198,000 Miles

A Poem by Emily Rose
"

My adventures in loneliness

"
She looked down at her speedometer that had just rolled to 198,000 miles.
She looked over at the other cars around her envious of their probably younger, more life-filled cars.  "Was it worth it?" She thought.
Was it worth all the trips to Grandma and Grandpa's house to visit and play cards?
Was it worth all the family road trips to lighthouses and beaches?
Was it worth all the hours spent moving 1,000 miles away?
Was it worth all the times you sang your favorite songs at the top of your lungs?
Was it worth kissing that boy in the front seat?

Was it worth laying on the hood looking at the stars?

Was it worth all the times those miles got you far away from your problems?

Was it worth driving to the job you loved so dearly every day?

Was it worth all the hours driving to friends houses and going on adventures?

Was it worth all the miles spent sobbing and wondering?

Was it worth letting that car carry you where you needed to be?

"It was worth it."  She thought.
