The Strength of a Heart

Be kind to a stranger, love one another... one day you may save a life through warmth.

The heart knows more than anyone can imagine.

It endures more then we could have the strength.

It absorbs the good and the bad,

It takes away our sadness and bottles up our fears.

But sooner or later, there must be an escape.

The heart can only bear so much,

Before it too reaches its limits.

So smile at a stranger,

Hug all your friends,

Talk to the old guy who sat next to you on the train,

Make them feel warmth grow within in them,

Let it ease some of the pain.

I wanted this to be a poem that told a story and a message, without spelling it out, it would be nice to hear what others thought the message was... xx

I think the message here is to accept everyone for who they are and welcome them with open arms, regardless of who they are. You can't understand someone else's life and soul just by looking at them for a moment, so why would you treat them as if you could? This poem is a lovely description of how everyone has their own story and their own secrets, but we can all live interdependently and happily. I like to say, "You don't need to understand someone to love them" and I feel that this piece makes my point for me. Wonderfully written. Thank you.
